Když uslyšíte Roar poprvé, napadne vás, jestli jde o soundtrack z klasického filmu nebo melodii z polozapomenutého snu. Owen Evans, hudebník s talentem pro chytlavé melodie a aranžmá evokující zlatou éru popu, se na hudební dráhu vydal v době, kdy vyšel film Ďábel nosí Pradu. 

Právě tehdy začaly vznikat skladby pro jeho I Can't Handle Change (2010). Debutové EP položilo emocionální základ jeho tvorby, v níž se mísí vznešenost se zlomeným srdcem. Inspiraci čerpá z dívčích kapel 60. let a ze zvuku průkopnických syntezátorů. Jeho hudba tvoří svět, v němž stárnoucí hollywoodské hvězdy potkávají truchlící roboty a šťastné skřítky. Zde nachází Ewans prostor vyprávět své příběhy o lásce, ztrátě a naději. 

Roar své útočiště pro velké emoce otevře ve Fuchsu premiérově v sobotu 21. září.

Roar, the solo project of Magic the Gathering enthusiast, amateur (but impressive) chef, and mastermind Owen Evans, channels that feeling of nostalgia we all experience but can never fully place.

The first listen of a Roar song might have you questioning reality. Is this a forgotten soundtrack from a classic film? A melody dreamt half-remembered? No, it's the singular vision of a songwriter with a knack for weaving evocative melodies and arrangements that echo the golden age of pop.

His journey began in 2006, the same year that brought us the glamorous struggles of The Devil Wears Prada. This was when his I Can't Handle Change seeds were sown. Released in 2010, this six-song debut EP established the emotional core of Roar's sound: a blend of grandeur and heartbreak. Subsequent releases, including two more EPs and three full-length albums, solidified his creative identity.

Taking inspiration from the girl groups of the 60s and the pioneering days of synthesizers, Roar's music creates a whimsical universe. Imagine a place where faded Hollywood stars mingle with lovelorn robots and the occasional optimistic elf. This is where stories of love, loss, and hope unfold.

Evans' soulful vocals drift over intricate bass lines, soaring strings, and melancholic synthesizer arpeggios. Each song is a dynamic journey, a surreal soundscape with sentimental motifs and unexpected delights. Roar has built a sonic sanctuary for the big feelings that will reside within us for the first time in F2 on Saturday, September 21.
